I can’t believe it! These last couple months have gone by so fast 🙂 I haven’t done a 16m photo shoot yet because I had a maternity photo shoot this weekend along with going to Vancouver to visit John’s grandparents. I was planning on doing is today but Lil’ Miss only took a 45min nap and is not in the best mood today. So hopefully tomorrow goes better and I’ll add the photos then.
Edited to add: Here are her 16 month pictures–she was not in the mood at all to get her picture taken and she was not wanting the sticker to be on her onesie.
Here are her 15 month pictures:
Kellen weighs in at 22lbs 5oz which bumps her up to the 34th percentile! Holy growing! She is wearing 12-18m clothing and probably will for at least a couple more months.
Her hair is getting long! In the back it is almost an inch past her shoulders. But she has a semi-mullet going on and the top of her head has shorter hair. It looks adorable in pigtails still and is barely long enough for a ponytail but she rolls around on the carpet/bed/couch a lot and it will fall out. She doesn’t really let me do her hair anymore as easily as she used to. TV just doesn’t cut it anymore. So I just started clipping little bows in, but she just pulls them out.
Her dimples are getting more defined lately! Makes me happy–I always have wanted our kids to have John’s dimples 🙂 She still has just two freckles and she actually points to the one on her arm all the time and says, “Da!” She hasn’t paid attention to the one on her foot yet.
She says about 20 words now and is “talking” all the time. In the last couple weeks she started identifying things without being prompted. It started with her playing with her balls and saying “Baaa!” She doesn’t really pronounce Ls yet. And then when we go to Target there are big red cement balls at the entrance and she does the same thing there. Then she started saying “Da” for dog, “Du” for duck, and “Be” for bear. I’m pretty proud of her 🙂 She will identify them anywhere!
Thanksgiving was good. Just low key at our house with just the three of us and then the weekend after at Grandpa’s.
Christmas was a lot of fun this year. She’s better at opening gifts and enjoys it. The week before Christmas we got with Lindsey and Nainoa because we didn’t know their work schedule for the following week. They got Kellen an awesome power quad that she loves 🙂 That weekend we went down to Medford and she got a Princess Little People Castle, a basketball hoop, shape sorter and a bunch of other fun things. We haven’t set up the hoop yet but she loves all the others. She is really good at the shape sorter. I usually just have to show her the right side of the cube and she does the rest. John and I got her a play kitchen, books and puzzles. We are starting a tradition of only 3 gifts from us to represent the The Three Wisemen. We don’t want it to be all about the presents for our kids. Then she will get one gift from Santa which was a tricycle this year. She likes it a lot but can’t reach the pedals–but it has a push pole for us to push her so that is nice. She loves her kitchen and I love how she is starting pretend play 🙂 And of course from Santa she gets her stocking which was full of little toys and snacks. Oh and another tradition is opening a new Christmas book on Christmas Eve. She got a stuffed llama from my mom that she likes a lot, but since she can’t say Ls, she calls it Mama At Christmas Eve Mass she dressed up as an angel and did a great job 🙂 So crazy to think that last year she played Baby Jesus 🙂
She still is being a picky eater which can be quite annoying. But I guess her weight is going well so she must be getting enough.
She hasn’t been hitting or anything but she does kind of throw tantrums–she just cries very loudly. It has gotten better since her canines finally came through. The last one took at least a month and really messed up her sleep and mood. But much better now. She gives actual kisses on the cheek or mouth now which we love–she only does for John and I though. She’s down to usually just one nap a day from about 10-12. The last couple days she hasn’t gone down until after 11 though. She still sometimes struggles with waking up at the 45min mark. Those days she usually ends up napping in the car after an errand. She pretty much refuses to nap in her crib in the afternoon. It sucks. I’m really hoping she starts to sleep later in the mornings eventually–6am wake-ups are tough!
No progress with the potty, but we aren’t worried about it right now. We will wait until she shows more signs of readiness. We will transition her to a toddler bed in a few months here so she gets used to it before the new baby comes and needs the crib. One big thing at a time 🙂 I’m excited to start giving her a big girl room 🙂 I’m going to make her a reading fort type thing in between 2 bookshelves–I think she will love it 🙂
We had some snow and she didn’t quite know what to think of it. She liked looking at it, but wasn’t the biggest fan of touching it 🙂
Football season is over now! We lost one game so we didn’t make it to the Rose Bowl or the Championship Game, but we ended number 4 and played Kansas St (#5) in the Fiesta Bowl and whooped them! Coach Kelly talked to some NFL teams and we were worried he was leaving us but he is staying!! Hopefully him and the team can get us back to the Championship next year and win it!
I’m having so much fun with Kellen! She has such a blossoming personality. She loves to smile and dance and make us laugh. I’m doing my best to cherish every moment of these last few months of just me and her 🙂
